In boxing, the bouts are of a few minutes (3-5 minute rounds), but these minutes are quiet energy draining as a flurry of punches are delivered or exchanged in the bout. Complete synchronization of leg, arm and core is required for smooth movement of the boxer in the ring for punching as well as for defense mechanism; this must be taken into the boxer training program.
Also the proper stance of the boxer will help the boxer to check the movement of the opponent and also will help the boxer to create an opportunity to attack the opponent. Boxer training has to be designed to make the boxer confident of defending himself and in addition should make the boxer have an upper hand in going for the knockout or TKO, after all boxing is all about knocking out the opponent.

The development of ballistic strength is taken care by the plyometric exercises. The boxers use plyometric exercises that include rapid push-ups and chin-ups to develop upper body strength and arm muscles. To develop reflexes and muscular endurance boxers try their hands at speed bags. Core strength development is needed for protection of vital organs of the body. Core strength exercises are rowing machine workouts and sit-ups.
Although lots of stress is given on physical strength of the boxer, the boxer training should ask for a strict diet plan and nutrition. Most boxer’s train everyday regardless if they have an upcoming bout or not. Boxing is a way of life. The boxers eat right and train daily to keep up with their hard, physical life style. If they don’t then they know they won’t win, and winning is the only thing they live for.
