A boxing workout – more than just boxing

If you are looking for a workout that will challenge both your physical and mental strength, then a boxing workout is definitely the way forward. A boxing workout provides the perfect package for a complete workout. It focuses on discipline, balance and consistency.

The key behind any successful workout should consist of a balanced diet and a mixture of good exercises that challenge your entire body. Such is achieved through a boxing workout. It consists of the following:

  1. An intense workout that is based both on aerobic and anaerobic exercises.
  2. It aims to improve a persons overall strength both physically and mentally.
  3. It pushes the muscle to the maximum without straining or damaging any muscles.
  4. It aims at targeting excess body fat to make sure your body weight is compromised of as much muscle as possible.
  5. It offers the widest variety of exercises compared to any other work out.
  6. It helps developing one’s mental strength along with physical strength.

A perfect boxing workout would compromise with such exercises that aim to target both physical and mental strength. It is generally broken down into various parts.

  • It starts of with a warm up of all your muscles that usually takes up to five to ten minutes. It is aimed at relaxing your over all body to prevent injury. The best form of warm up exercise is jogging.
  • The next step is conditioning. This happens between the warm up session and the actual boxing phase. They are mainly aimed towards resistance and improving muscle strength, speed, endurance and conditioning. These also are performed with in a time span of 10 minutes without the use of any weights.  
  • The next stage is focusing on over all techniques. These would include basis punches gradually leading up to complex combinations. It is important to make sure that you are able to master your basic techniques here otherwise will become difficult later on. The time one should spend on this will vary based on how quickly you are able to adapt the basics.
  • You should then move on to the core of the physical work out. This will be based on the knowledge and development of each individual boxer. This aims at the more technical side of boxing by implementing both attack and defence. The routine will be based on what your body is able to cope with. Most usually go for several short rounds but this can be increased based on the amount of energy one has.
